I hopped on to a previous post about SMETS2 meters not sending readings. I had been with Symbio until October when Eon Next took over. The meter and IHD carried on working.
On 28th November my meter stopped sending data and the signal strength was 0 and there was an x on the display. The WAN indicator was solid with a double flash every so often. The HAN indication was off and the IHD showed nothing. This coincided with Storm Arwen when the electricity was off for over 16 hours.
I discovered that the Arqiva transmitter for the DCC is at the end of my village so there should be no problem with signal strength.
The meter had IHD have been dumb until yesterday when there was another power cut for 3 hours. When the power came back the IHD sprang into life and, checking in the meter cupboard, I had full signal strength on the WAN and the HAN light was on. Great, I thought, problem solved.
When I got up this morning the IHD was blank and the signal strength was 0 and the x was back. Something has changed overnight between Eon Next/DCC/Arqiva. Can someone fix this please?
To me, this sounds like something only Arqiva can resolve, as it might be a fault with their equipment. @Beki_EONNext I could do with a huge favour! You owe me about a thousand of them after all. XD

Think you can check the WAN coverage around the area of @pmknowles for known issues or outages by any chance? I don't need to know the locations or anything myself, just whether any of the Arqiva stations are still out of action after Storm Arwen and all the other storms last year. If there's none, you might need to flag this issue up with DCC and possibly request a Comms Hub reboot as only DCC can do that.
@theunknowntech I'm so sorry I must of missed this. I had a check and everything seems to be okay with WAN coverage so @pmknowles I've gone ahead an emailed through to smart metering to see if they can raise a ticket with the DCC. 😊
@Beki_EONNext Thanks, it was frustrating that it worked after the most recent power cut then stopped at midnight the same day. It wouldn't be so bad if the display worked but it takes the ZigBee down too.
Just as a heads up though. The Energy Ombudsman can't handle complaints directly related to DCC and if you have a problem with them, you'll need to go through E.On's processes - especially because DCC doesn't accept contacts from customers.
@Beki_EONNext Just to let you know it's still not working. The signal strength still has an x against it. It would be interesting to know if other Eon customers in the area have Smart meters that are working or is it just mine?
