Hi I have exactly the same problem as you. My display hasn't been working for a year now. I've contacted eon twice. The first time they said it was a global software issue and that it would be updated but they couldn't give me a date for when it would be updated. Six months later I rang them back cos it still wasn't working. This time they said they'd list contact with the smart meter and they'd put me down for having an engineer visit. Six months later and still nothing. They keep asking me for meter readings but seeing as it's supposed to be a smart meter and it's supposed to send readings on its own I'm not doing their work for them.

Just to add some new information that might help. Blastoise186 told me he managed to chat with a Smart Meter Engineer today (he's got a few friends!) who advised that the most likely fix for "waiting for data" issues on an IHD might be a Comms Hub reset, but only an engineer can do this and it would have to be done locally.
Blastoise did also mention that this won't always fix all issues though and it's more of a last resort than anything else. But it might help some people at least.
@Spaceageplayboy please could you post photos of your meters? I'd like to check something real quick.Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

I haven't heard anything back from my message at the moment, however I received one from an email I sent back at the beginning of February, so my guess is they are working through the demand at the moment. I've tried another little tip I heard to day to see if I can reconnect the meter.

@Beki_EONNext my meter is actually in a cupboard in the kitchen so the closest I can get it is plugging it in the kitchen. There is no electric plugs in the cupboard and the battery won’t last long enough to leave it next to the meter
