@Johnelf @Beki_EONNext. Yes that’s exactly what I was told too John. So the problem lies with Eon Next staff members. They shouldn’t be telling customers to buy new IHDs they should be booking engineers out to fix the issue like Beki has done for me. I was told this through Facebook messenger and through email.
Please don't try to purchase a so-called "Universal IHD" if you have SMETS1 meters, as I can guarantee you that it will not work. If your meter was installed in 2018 or earlier, it's almost certainly a SMETS1. For various reasons, S1 and S2 aren't cross-compatible and your entire site has to either be fully S1 or fully S2. There's no scope for mix and match.
If you purchase a "Universal IHD" on SMETS1, there's a strong chance your supplier won't even allow it to be paired for security reasons and even if they do, I cannot promise it will behave properly. It's better not to take that risk. I've also seen quite a few on sites like Amazon or eBay that are either a scam, fake or stolen. Please don't encourage that kind of trade.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...
Pete is an IHD Tariff Update Robot! 🤖 Anasa is a Giant Enemy Robot Spider 🕷 🤖 Hannah is neither! Need Customer service? click here! Replacement IHD Guide? Here it is!
I have sent out a message to all our digital teams to day to stop this recommendation from being stated! I apologise that this information is still being passed on by our Digital teams.
@theunknowntech oh I know that now and wish I had before but when you have members of eon next staff telling you to do it you believe it to be true. I think the other person who has joined the thread was quoting the message he received from a member of staff, I don’t think he was advising people to buy universal IHDs 👍🏻
So can the existing IHD be brought back to life ?
can I reset it ?
Geo Duet2 with a smets1 meter
I'm afraid not. A full factory reset would wipe out the encryption keys and destroy the pairing between the IHD and your meters. If that happens, only the supplier can get it paired up again. The closest kind of reset you can do is a User Data Clear, which wipes out your user data but keeps the device pairing in place.
I know how to do a full factory reset for a fair few IHD models, but it's not something I'm keen to reveal as it's too risky. I don't want to risk leaving people without a working device if they try and fail to fix it following such guides.
Many thanks for trying to help.
I will just have to hope it springs into life or eon can do something but not holding any hopes. I hope my update comes soon.
