Oh that’s surprising considering 4 members of staff have told me the reason it isn’t working is because it’s the old smart meter. The gas wasn’t done because of where the meter is apparently because it’s in a cupboard npower said I couldn’t have a smart meter for it
Could I have an update on this please. I currently have 3 in home displays, a chameleon ihd3 (original supplied by npower), a pipit 500 IHD and a chameleon ihd6, and none of them work
@emmajayne91 - I apologise for the delay in responding. Hands up, I've had a sea of IHD requests and lost this response amongst the notifications. If possible, would you be able to find on the devices you have - when they are on, could you find the device ID?
Did you try to add another device recently? Around the 24th Jan?
@theunknowntech I wonder if you would be able to help me quickly, these universal IHDs bought online, would they possibly create a security alert from the smart meter?
I don't think they'd create any security alert from the meter, but for SMETS1 setups the pairing of unknown IHDs that didn't come from a verified source is not generally allowed. In this case, the best device to use would likely be the original IHD3. Attempting to pair a device might generate log entries though, but where the log entry gets stored depends on things like whether it's S1 or S2.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

Hi yes I will try get that information for all the devices for you when I have a chance. I probably did yes I have tried 2 new ones and then I have the original IHD provided by npower
Thanks! Technically speaking, all three of those IHDs can support SMETS1, but the same rules still apply and the Secure Pipit 500 and Chameleon IHD6-CAD-PPMID-S1 will unfortunately probably have to go back to their original owners. I think Beki can review the records to see which one has been paired though as that's the one you'll want to keep.
If you somehow get lucky and get to choose which one to keep, I'll give you a tip. Pick the IHD6 (bottom photo) as it's the nicest IHD out of that bunch. But to anyone else reading this post, please don't just buy random IHDs off of places like eBay as I cannot guarantee that they'll work and they could be stolen. Just because I'm able to identify it as being compatible this time doesn't mean they always will be compatible - it takes a keen eye like mine to figure these out.
Oh, and that Secure Pipit 500 is the property of OVO Energy by the way. Please don't use that one as it's still paired to another meter! As for the IHD6, please head into the menu and locate Meter Info. If another meter is listed at all, then that means it's already paired and might not be able to unpair without approval from the existing supplier.
