Not so smart installation
-
Having joined a tariff that required a smart meter they made an appointment for last July but failed to turn up. I made another for this month but again they failed to appear, having kept me waiting all day, due to a “Covid-related problem”. They now want to make another appointment but I am reluctant. Can they force me to have one or should I tell them not to bother?

For excellent impartial advice about smart meters you can visit the OFGEM website.
I think it's really important to read this information on the website too.

Hi,
As far as I'm aware you can't be forced to upgrade. Some tariffs might have it as a condition of the tariff and not going ahead might cause you to be moved off to another one but that's about it. There's a very, very small list of reasons that an upgrade can be forced through but you probably won't encounter it anytime soon.Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...
