Howdy! I'm theunknowntech, an evil genius who actually isn't as evil as you might think. Muhahahahahaha!
As for your question... Whoops, yeah I think that might have broken something. Not to worry though, it should be possible to fix. By inserting the new card into the meter, it should have registered the card and applied the new rates automatically, but it's usually recommended to register the key/card with the meter before making your first top-up with it. Did the top-up credit transfer over anyway? If it did, you should be OK this time and you probably got lucky.
If the meter swallowed the credit however and didn't top-up, then this is where things are a little harder. As long as you've still got the receipt, you can usually request a refund from customer service. They'll need to do a few checks and if they're happy that the top-up never transferred to the meter, they can attempt a refund. It might take a while to figure it out though.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

Worked. Apparently was authorised your side.
used it since.
hope so anyway as im a sod for putting the receipts in the shredder as soon as the credit gone on. 😆
You should always keep the receipts for at least a month after making top-up purchases for electric and gas, just in case. Try not to break too many cards though, they're not easy to get sometimes! :)
