I have Landis+Gyr 470 SMETS2 meters, specifically: E470 Type 5394 for Electricity and G470 672 for Gas. They were installed by E.ON in March 2021 and are "paired" with a Chameleon IHD.


Everything was working OK - i.e. electricity and gas readings were sent to E.ON and both readings were displayed on the IHD up until about mid June 2021. Then the electricity reading disappeared from the IHD and no electricity readings were sent to E.ON from June 2021 onwards by the smart meter. Gas readings continued to work without any problem.

As far as I can tell the meters themselves work OK and communication is established as per the attached picture (green LEDs flashes about every 3 seconds).


I spoke with E.ON about this issue number of times to no avail. I was hoping it will get resolved when my account is moved to E.ON Next but the issue is still there 1 month after the move. What is worse is that the gas readings stopped as well. I can still see gas on the IHD (still no electricity on IHD), but no readings are sent to E.ON Next.


Does anybody have an idea how can I troubleshoot this problem?

Thanks, that resolves my worst fears at least. Your Comms Hub is healthy and able to communicate just fine. So I turn my attention to the meters themselves.

It can take up to six weeks for your meters to migrate when you switch supplier, and this does also include automatic migrations I'm afraid. Not least because all the security keys need to be regenerated and switched over, along with other tests, checks and background processes behind the scenes. Your gas meter is probably just undergoing that process and should come back online soon, possibly within the next couple of weeks.

Your electric meter however, is another story and a bigger concern. That much time with no comms from it is not a good sign and could be an indicator of a fault on the meter itself. This needs to be investigated more deeply than I can do via the forum, so you'll definitely want to contact customer service and ask to go through a smart meter health check.

Can you check the pulses again please? If they're flashing every three seconds, that's a possible fault. They should be flashing every five seconds if everything is healthy.

Just a brief update to say that gas meter has come up online and readings are now being sent. It took exactly 4 weeks from the switchover from E.ON. I am following up with customer service to troubleshoot the electric meter readings. Thanks for your help @theunkowntech!

No worries. Glad I could help.

I do now have another theory which Beki mentioned has come up a lot recently. It might just be a case that your electric meter doesn't have a read schedule set right now - which definitely would prevent it from submitting readings properly. Given the gas meter has reconnected now, that's enough evidence for me to say your entire site has come back online.

This should be an easy fix. You probably just need to get customer service to configure a read schedule. Beki might be able to help there as well if you get stuck. :)

Hi @Beki, any luck with setting the reading schedule for my electric meter? Still no readings, gas is OK. If/when set, when should I expect readings to appear in my E.ON Next account?
