Am paying my electricity by fuel direct, I have been paying £83 per month, this was for electricity used and to pay off arrears to npower before eon took over. I am currently £385.62 in credit as arrears were paid off. How did I go about lowering the amount that comes off my benefits as I seem to be paying too much for what I use?
Did you manage to get this sorted in the end?
@theunknowntech you are correct, once any debt has been cleared then fuel direct should be stopped. Some customers though prefer to leave it in place as they feel it helps them to budget.

This is a new one on me, so I did some quick research to look up the answer. As far as I can tell, Fuel Direct is supposed to be automatically disabled once all debts and arrears have been paid off successfully, and the deductions from that point onwards should be redirected back to your own bank account, as per the agreement. If it continues to run, you might be entitled to a refund of any overpayments as well.
I think the best route might be to contact customer service to get the ball rolling. While you can probably also contact the job centre or DWP, going via E.On is likely to be easier, since E.On would be able to confirm that Fuel Direct is no longer required on your account. If I find anything else, I'll let you know.
