I'm new to Eon (former Symbio customer) and I've been placed on the Next Flex Direct Debit Economy 7 tariff. Can any one tell me when the Night Rate for electricity is applicable, please?
Sure thing. I don't know what your MPAN Area is as I can't look it up, but I do know a solution and there's a couple of ways you can find the times - without staying up late and basically watching paint dry. I found a pretty helpful table on another forum which lists all known Economy 7 times. If you look at your MPAN (it's on every bill!) and compare the first two digits to that table, you'll be able to find the switching times and peak/off-peak hours for your area. The numbers you're after are the two that are bottom left and closest to the giant S symbol.
As a rough guide though, Peak tends to run around 7am to midnight, while Off-Peak tends to run around midnight to 7am. There's a few exceptions though - such as some areas being from 7:30am to 00:30 Peak and 00:30 to 7:30am Off-Peak and parts of Scotland having eight hours Off-Peak rather than seven.
If you're still unsure, please could you tell me which region or county you're in (I don't need city/town/village etc). I can usually figure it out from there for you.

I am a former energy manager for a major property management company. We all need to take care with Economy 7 tariffs. They all have a break even percentage of night use needed to be beneficial. If you do not meet this percentage of nice use you will be losing money and should be on a single rate tariff.
I also have the same query. I live in the southeast Cornwall region and I would like to know what Economy 7 hours apply here.

I think your MPAN Area ID might be 22 and the DNO being Western Power Distribution. Does that sound about right? If so, Economy 7 gives you seven continuous hours of Off-Peak and 17 hours of Peak in any 24 hour period. Peak Hours for Cornwall are therefore 7am to midnight and Off-Peak Hours for Cornwall are midnight to 7am. Please note that some Smart Meters don't adjust for BST, so your actual hours might be an hour later during the summer. There are no other variations that apply to this MPAN Area ID at this time.
