Meter tail upgrades are something that only the supplier can do, as this falls under supplier responsibility. You'll probably need to contact customer service to arrange this. Ideally, it needs to be scheduled for before SSEN attempt to replace the Service Fuse, otherwise this could block that other job.

@Foverandy Hi I realise this post is over a year old but how did you get on with getting e.on next to look at your tails? I'm currently going round in circles with lots of promises but nothing happening.
@Bronzesurfer Hi, It was a nightmare... it took almost 3 months - 2 attempts through facebook, then 2 phone calls each of which offered a visit in about a month which never happened then after 2 months a call with a UK based customer service rep and then it was all sorted in 2 weeks. Only issue was the E-on engineer wasn't qualified to connect the tails to my consumer unit so added a terminal blocking my meter cupboard and I'd to get my own electrician to connect to the consumer unit. Good luck in getting yours sorted🤞
@Foverandy Thanks, I was really hoping you were going to say yeah, it was easy and straight forward! 🤣, I am just at the start of the nightmare!, SSEN have upgraded fuse to 100A but tails are still 16mm. Luckily the EV charger being installed next has load balancing so charging at night when the normal demand is low should still allow me to charge at 7.2kw. It’s a shame that consumers can only go to the supplier for tails, I’d happily pay someone to do it for me!
From what I have experienced and from what I have been told on many occasions, everything up to and including the disconnect and main incoming fuse is the responsibility of the DNO. The meter itself, and the incoming meter tails, are the responsibility of the supplier, and everything forward of the meter, including the outgoing meter tails to your consumer unit are the responsibility of the householder. The slight 'overlap' between supplier and homeowner is simply the matter of connecting the tails into the meter itself.
There is absolutely nothing to stop you installing your own meter tails, bringing them up to the meter and just getting the supplier or meter engineer to do the final connection.
My meter tails are longer than the maximum 3m permitted without additional cutout protection and a double pole switch. Simple matter for my electrician, when he rewired the house, to fit new tails and just connect them in to the isolator switch. No supplier or DNO intervention required.
