I am in a rented house. Unfortunately there are no instructions for the meter, which has a red and a dark black button near the slot for the card. Once the card is inserted and the amount from the card goes on the meter the dark button is pressed and then I get hot water etc. I tried this 2 days ago, no matter how many times I press the black button it isn’t doing what it should do. (Sorry for the non technical language), but with no hot water or heating how do I get the meter to work

Please could you post photos of your meters for me. There's various ways to get back on-supply and the exact instructions vary depending on the meter you have. Once I know what you've got, I can grab the right guide in a heartbeat.
