Actually, fixing a faulty electric or gas meter is the responsibility of the supplier, and the supplier alone. Per the Gas Act 1986 and Electricity Act 1989, the meters are owned by the supplier and no-one else is allowed to touch them or do any repairs. You'd have a hard time getting a third party to do that. The central heating is of course your own responsibility. Either way, an engineer of either type should be able to help locate the problem and advise on who needs to fix it.
A friend of mine did a great guide a while ago that helps to explain more. It's since been merged into another one, which you can check out over on my home forum.
As for getting this resolved, I strongly recommend reporting the fault again if it's with the gas meter, and to raise a complaint if you don't get any luck. If it's the boiler or central heating, a local Gas Safe Registered Engineer can help you out. Feel free to search the Gas Safe Register to find one near you.

Get your gas heater and meter serviced as soon as possible at your expense; this is your responsibility. The gas engineer will take a look and diagnose any faults; that is their responsibility.
Your safety, comfort and finances depend on it.

Sorry I didn't know about that; thanks for correcting me
@Matthew - Hey, it's Beki here! Welcome to the Community! I would love to know a little more about your situation and why you can't get an engineer out? I am assuming that you have contacted us to explain the fault with the meter?
Please feel free to post pictures of your meter here and we can take a look together 😊
