Just had smarts fitted last week. Have been billed for old gas & electric meters up to change date and electric on the new meter for 2 days on a smart read.
Should I put in a manual read tomorrow to somehow trigger first of month readings, something I would like to keep, or will the system do it automatically ? Or what billing cycle will be used ?
contact customer services and request readings to be taken on your preferred date. It’s that simple.
if the date you require is the first of the month, I’d put in manual readings tomorrow and then contact CS a few days later.

Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and think the smart meter programme is a waste of our money. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Just checking in to see if you managed to contact our customer services team and set your billing date, you can also send us the first meter readings recorded on your smart meters and then going forward the readings will be sent remotely. 😊

Thanks, yes contacted today and meter pull was set to 28th (which ties in with the bill although that only pulled electric) and now set to 1st.
They did say that the meter is not communicating - must only be with Eon as my Bright app is giving full 30min data for both G & E since installation !! - and they will refer it to the metering team.
