I have an RTS unit but inside the glass front there is a switch in the "off" position. So is it turned off? It is still wired into the white LCD electric meter which is a 5235D-N type and is on a dual tarrif night/day rate.
I am against having a Smart meter fitted, so am trying to predict what will happen after the signal is turned off .
I dont have an economy water storage tank etc... I have an oil fired modern boiler that runs both central heating and domestic water.
@ColinSmith1968 - it appears to have 3 wires going into it from the meter tails, but is there anything coming out connected to a consumer unit/junction box etc
Cannot see any more wires coming out the RTS other than the 3 to the LCD meter. I did research the 5325D meter and it mentions that a "D" meter needs an external signal to change the rates. The wiring diagram on the back of the cover also shows this?
I think you already suspect that nothing will change when the signal is turned off, which may be on 30th June, but will probably be later. I think you are correct.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and think the smart meter programme is a waste of our money. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

Um…
I’d be inclined to think you’ll loose the rate switching then.
The ‘off’ in the RTS is just its current state. If you checked at 02:00 then it will more than likely be ‘on’.
edit to add:
why are you on a dual rate tariff? Does it make sense with your usage? Higher day rates and standing charges when you aren’t using it for heat and hot water will typically be more expensive.
@rwh202
I didn't think of that, I'll try to check the position of the switch during the early hours. I assumed it was a switch to "manually" turn the RTS box off, or to allow an 80amp output to go live to another circuit when the RTS switches over night - ( hence why it's off now, as the RTS is not supplying another power circuit?)
I have lived here for three years but about 10 years ago the property had an extension and rewire which is when I think the white meter box was fitted along with fitting an oil boiler and removing the old water tank system.
Regarding the dual rate tarriff, it's what was set up already when I moved in - and to be honest, the previous owner said the rate is "backwards" so I get cheap rate during the day and expensive rate overnight, so keen not to get anything changed! I'm not actually with Eon.
