it looks like stage one of getting your rates down has been completed as these figure are close to mine for the south east. E.On next had said they would bring rates down further to those of the EPG - because customers could leave their fix without penalty which made doing that a no brainier. But now the government has limited the EPG to just 6 months I don’t think it’s as clear cut to switch to the variable tariff because you might find out next April that the fix would have been better. I’d think long and hard whether to drop the fix at present - waiting to see the rates firm up from E.On next will better inform us.

I'm pretty sure that going onto the variable tariff is the right thing to do for me, since (like many) most of my gas use for the year is going to come before April. So trading off higher rates in the winter when my usage is high, for lower rates in the summer when it's low is going to cost me more overall - especially as the fix would then end in October before my usage ramps up again.
Of course, if Eon would actually confirm the rates they are planning to charge me I could do this calculation and make a sensible decision. 🤦♂️
IF - my wife has a phrase along the line of "If **it were pudding there'd be no starvation in the World". I don't think you'll get anything out of E.On Next until February when the government decides what to replace the EPG with. So too late to be of any help. My gas fix (with EDF) runs to 2024, so I'm expecting it still to be of benefit - I hope it isn't because that would mean gas prices have really come down!
My unit rates have now been updated to the correct level to take into account the EPG but now my standing charge has gone up vs. what I signed up to for v19?! Surely that's not right?
Standing charges went up in October for those on variable tariffs, but on a fixed tariif your standing charges should have stayed the same while unit prices dropped to the EPG floor.
So yes its not right - but perhaps the changes ae happening in stages rather than all at once.
@meldrewreborn it's just a bit odd because my standing charge was previously at the correct v19 fixed rate until they updated my unit rate to the correct EPG levels yesterday. Seems like they fix one thing and then another goes wrong 🤣
