There can be no incentive that would persuade me...other than free energy for, say, a year. The incentive would need to be around that sort of level, a thousand ish pounds.

I hear someone has started a petition to abolish the damn things. Apparently if it gets 100,000 signatures or something, the government are obliged to debate it

Can the energy companies charge a higher tariff if you do not have a Smart meter. ?

It's just the fact that I get it on my account screen everytime I check to see if WHD has ben credited yet

You can go into your communication preferences and turn off any marketing for them. That should stop them pestering you.

Make sure you have the cross shown.



As for a getting the WHD, if you are entitled, don't expect anything much earlier than March.

@Johnh1995 It basically depends on what kind of smart meter you have. At E.ON Next for credit standards and smart meters there are no additional costs compared to the standard credit meter, when it comes to prepayment smart pay as you go meters (smart PAYG) the tariff is based on the Prepayments tariffs.
