On your bills you can see a section that explains the process. I've also copied it here for you 😊
Your energy usage is calculated from your gas consumption using a standard industry formula:
× 2.83 to convert hundreds of cubic feet to cubic metres (units consumed)
× Volume Correction (for temperature & pressure)
× Calorific Value (energy in each m3 of gas) ÷ 3.6 (convert from joules)
Thanks, Beki. My meter records the gas volume in cubic meters already so do I just use the volume correction and calorific value figures to get the KW/H?
By the way, I couldn't see thiis formula on the website which is why I was asking. I have used this formula before with other suppliers.
@Beki Sorry - don't know if you got my reply. I've seen the breakdown of my bills now. My meter gives me cubic metres anyway so can I ignore the x2.3 part of the calculation? Thanks
This is my second reply to Beki. I asked if I can dispense with the x2.83 part of the algorithm as my gas meter records usage in cubic metres anyway.
i also sent two further posts which so far haven't appeared in this forum. One was a detailed account of my smart meter problems and the other was about how I am unable to sign out of my energy account.
@Queenie Yes Queenie that is correct please disregard if you already have the cubic meter setting.
Posts on the Community are currently being moderated as we have a few issues with SPAM (hopefully to be sorted very soon) and we would rather posts be checked rather than one of our wonderful members clicking an unknown link. I hope you understand and thank you for your patience. 😊 I will reply to your other posts now.
I have been looking for the calorific value of gas to convert by meter readings but it is not given on my online bills (or if it is I can't see it) Am I looking in the wrong place?

Reason: I found it - You have to download the statement to see that level of detail.

Well done...problem sorted. The online statement does indeed give you 'the basics' and the downloaded pdf version also has all the 'small print', so to speak.
Fortunately, I don't have gas anymore so it's been a while since I've seen a gas bill in the flesh.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
