2.5kWh would cost about 88p, if you are on a single rate tariff. Economy7 or similar would be more but not to £1.70.
Any fridges or freezers connected at the same time would inflate the bill, as would any chargers or appliances on standby.
Oil filled radiators are usually thermostatically controlled so even if switched on for an hour, they may not be consuming electricity the whole time. Your test will need to be more controlled if you want accurate results.
I've posted elsewhere that you can buy meters that plug into a socket and then you plug a single appliance into that and it records all sorts of stuff, including how much the appliance uses over time. I used it to identify a freezer that was using a lot of power (it was old) and having replaced it I've cut 2kWh (about 70p) off my daily bill.

There is also the issue that oil filled radiators are thermostatically regulated. They will draw the full 2.5kW as they heat up from cold but once the oil is up to temperature, they cycle down to around 1kW or so, so are a bit more economical once they just have to maintain a temperature.
As my comrade @meldrewreborn says, plug in power meters are invaluable for this sort of thing as they are just measuring the appliance itself and not the background baseload of fridges, freezers, Central heating controls or your other loads.

For a little more information on such things, worth a listen to the Sliced Bread podcast on the BBC Sounds website where they tested various types of electric space heater, including oil filled radiators.
It was interesting when they said that humans can detect drops in temperature and usually react by turning the device on again, whereas a fairly constant temperature doesn't elicit the same response.
I only listened to it in bed last night. It was the 'addiction' to the fanned heat that I found interesting. Humans cannot 'measure' absolute temperatures, but do notice temperature differentials easily.
