I used to live in Godalming in Surrey. It had the world's first public electricity supply in 1881.
They hadn't figured out kWh back then so I think if you had the 40v DC supply for incandescent bulbs, as one Mr Pullman of Church Street did, you paid a weekly 'subscription'.
As with every diverse community, there is always a mixture of opinions, knowledge as well as understanding - that’s what makes it such a great place to be!
