Replacing an Inverter again!

I am an early adopter with PV Panels fitted on 10th December 2010. The system size is exactly the same as when it was installed as follows:
    System size: 2.52KWP
    Inverter : STECAGRID 2000+
    PV Modules: 14
    Make/Model: BP SOLAR-BP4180T
    System Performance (SAP 2009) 2070 KWHr/Annum.

In June 2020, the STECAGRID 2000+ inverter failed and needed replacing. This was during a Covid 19 Lock Down period and nobody could be contacted at the EON FiT Team to offer advice on procedures and documentation to replace the Inverter, so I contacted Solax Power. They sent an engineer out and he fitted a X1 Series Inverter (3.0kw-5.98kw) and advised the power output would be the same because the PV panels were the same. Many months later perhaps 2021, I contacted the FiT Team by telephone and they advised the same as Solax Power.

3 April 2025. I have just had a Heat Pump fitted and I am going to have 2 x Tesla Powerwall 3's fitted (replacing a Powerwall 2). The Powerwall 3’s have their own Highbrid Inverter. The installer is reticent to disconnect the PV Panels from the Solax X1 series and to connect it to the later Tesla Powerwall 3's, because he is unsure whether my FiT payments might be adversely affected.
I am sorry this is long winded, but I just wanted to make sure there was no problem with doing this as long as the DNO is advised. The installer is MCS accredited.

In my view I am in exactly the same position as I was with the Solax inverter being fitted with no problems back in 2020.

Any comments and advice greatly accepted.

Hey @PeterJohn 👋 welcome to the community!

All changes you make must be like for like and not increase the capacity in any way, if the capacity increases this is when you could start to come across issues with your FiT agreement. It's also important that any work done is carried out by an MCS installer 😊

You might find our FiT section of the E.ON Next website helpful it has the FiT t&c's and lots of FAQ's on there too. If any changes are made then you should pop the details over to our solar teams in an email to hi@eonnext.com
