In the process of switching to EON Next. Date agreed is 5th March.
When will the change over actually occur?
Is it at the start of the 5th or end of the 5th?

@Woodlands Never really thought about this when I switched from BG, but I assume the process is more about the 2 suppliers agreeing the final meter reading.

So presumably you pay your account to the old supplier up to the agreed final meter reading, then your new supplier account starts from that same meter reading.

If you're moving to a ToU tariff, EOn put you onto Next Flex initially (which is based on meter "total" readings) before moving you onto the ToU tariff based on individual ½hourly usage readings (not daily meter "total" readings)

The reason I asked is because we are on a TOU tariff with Octopus at the moment, which has cheap rate overnight, so not sure if we will still have that tonight, or if it will end at midnight today.

I think unfortunately you'll find their transfer terms say thay initially EOn will put you on Next Flex (single daytime tariff only ☹️) for (I think) a couple of weeks whilst checking your meter until they're happy it's all functioning okay before actually moving you on to Next Drive etc

This is from the current T&Cs for the Drive Tariff.
Terms for our Next Drive tariff (from 4 December 2024).

Testing your smart meter.

4.1 As part of switching to this tariff, If you’re switching to us from another supplier we must run test-reads of your smart meter for up to 15 days.

4.2 During this period, you will be on our Standard Variable Tariff (SVT), Next Flex.

4.3 If the tests are successful, your tariff begins when the tests have completed.

4.4 If the tests are unsuccessful, you will remain our SVT, and we will contact you with options, for example, to switch back to your previous supplier, choose another supplier, continue on the SVT or choose one of our other products. On the SVT, your unit rate is the same all day (there would not be a lower off-peak unit rate(s) and time(s)).

4.5 If you are already an E.ON Next Customer, we must run test-reads of your smart meter for up to 5 days and you will remain on your existing tariff during this period.

4.6 If the tests are successful, your tariff begins when the tests have completed.

4.7 If the tests are unsuccessful, you will remain on your current tariff.

4.8 We reserve the right to withdraw this tariff at any point.

@WizzyWigg Thanks for confirming that. I was aware that (changing to Next Drive) that process could take up to 2 weeks after the switch.
What I was asking, was what time does the switch from Octopus to E.ON Next actually occur on the date agreed. Is it at the beginning or end of that day?

I don't have experience of Next Drive but I do have experience of switching to E.ON Next (from EDF Economy-7 on 01 January 24) and several internal tariff switches in November 24. In every case the new tariff started at 00:00 at the start of the switch day, with the corresponding start readings on the next bill. I have had a smart meter throughout that time.

... however I would advise reading the meter with photos at the switchover time, some suppliers seem to be 'flexible' with closing readings and then quote Ofgem tolerance guidelines of 250kWh. (happened to me).

Tried to submit the opening meter reading this morning using the website & App and both not working correctly!
Website allows me to enter the reading, but when I press submit, the website crashes!
Tried on the App and there is nowhere to enter the actual reading, only able to choose the date!
Is this normal!
Therefore, I have sent the reading by email with a photo attached of the meter, asking for confirmation of receipt.
