Charging double the DD agreement

    I have a debt with eon from a previous house, when we moved to new house we had a new supplier and we contacted eon and had them send us a letter to clear off remaining debt.
    This was july 2024

    After the letter we contacted and agreed a 200 a month direct debit for the 21st of each month.

    Checking my bank statement's I can see that eon next has been taking the agreed money on the agreed day.

    However another company "previous credit solutions" started taking 200 a month on or around the 4th-5th of every month since I started paying Eon next.

    I only noticed this today when they took another 200.

    My question is why and how did some third party debtor get authorised to take a further 200 a month from my bank without my knowledge ? Have my rights been violated ?

    I have paid 2600 now which I think was about the debt amount anyway.

    None of the payments were missed, no letters received, not a word or email from eon or this PCS company who collects debts for eon.

    Will be phoning in the morning but just wanted to share this in the hope of an answer.

    Now that I think back I am not even sure if it was eon directly or pcs who setup the payment plan with us but either way 2 charges are being made on 2 separate days of the month

    We were paying on a top up meter after a forced meter change in the old place so we had no bank transfers with eon of any kind, so both of these payments are surely a direct result of setting up 1 payment plan of 200 per month. It cant be right.

    @guywithquestions

    and some questions for you. How much was the debt from the previous address? Are you paying eon next £200 and PCS £200 and your new supplier another amount each month for your current energy consumption?
    Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

    @meldrewreborn thank you for responding, we checked figures and remember the debt was around 3500 when we moved, as the payplan was 18 months at 200.

    In the previous place we were already paying this debt gradually through the meter with an increased rate.

    Yes we are currently paying ovo for our electric in the new place with monthly payments whilst paying eon 2 times for a debt.
