@Lshaw22
This is something you'll need to contact your home insurance about.

Many years ago we had a power surge - it was widespread, and many households were affected. I had a number of items that were damaged and i can remember claiming for the damage. But who from?Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and think the smart meter programme is a waste of our money. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

@meldrewreborn
Your claim would be against your home contents insurance.
When my house was rewired three years ago and the old 16th Edition consumer unit was replaced with an up-to-date 18th Edition version, they installed a surge arrestor as a matter of course. Prevention is better than cure!
With effect from 2019, the fitting of at least a Type 2 surge protection device is recommended in any property and mandatory in all new installations. If your property is fed from overhead cables or a pole transformer, you need a Type 1 which gives added protection against lightning strikes.
For really sensitive electronics, you can fit a more sensitive Type 3 to individual final circuits. Types 1 and 2 give whole house protection.Last edited by retrotecchie; 03-02-25 at 01:02.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons. -
