An improper meter replacement certainly sums up what happened.
From the initial excuse (the end of RTS, but the meters they took out weren't RTS so didn't need replacing), to fitting a different meter type to that they agreed, it feels like I've been scammed.
I've lodged a complaint, which will take time to resolve and may or may not result in a meter change to rectify their mistake.
Though adding extra heaters might be a workaround to heat the home if Eon Next won't change the meter for a 4 tail, in reality it isn't such a viable option due to space constraints, a lack of power sockets and costs.
Regarding the space issue, a very slim vertical heater might fit one room, but these all seem to be much more expensive than regular horizontal heaters of the same output.
These were the same reason I tried so hard to ensure the afternoon boost wasn't lost, yet here I am facing exactly the same issues.
Considering I'd already bought a timer to control the boost, the costs & inconvenience just seem to keep growing, all made worse when you consider the meter change wasn't actually necessary, but the supplier refused to accept that fact.
I'll pursue the complaint in the hope they're willing to rectify the situation quickly, and will bear in mind the advice regarding additional heaters.
Thank you for your help and, if you have any recommendations for suitable inexpensive slim vertical heaters, they'd be welcome.
So have you got a timing set up that would switch them one at night and also give you the boost?
If so, then you can keep the meter and just ignore the 5th terminal - get everything wired off the permanent live.
Alternatively, it shouldn't be beyond the wit of man (but maybe E.on...) to get the meter remotely configured with the 5th terminal permanently live, whilst maintaining the TOU tariff matrix.
