The Energy Ombudsman publishes data each quarter for energy supplier complaints it receives and resolves. Of course if a supplier is good at dealing with complaints they will never get referred to the Ombudsman.

The number of complaints ranges from 54 down to 12 complaints per supplier per100,000 customers in the latest quarter. That to me is quite a low level, but it does show differences between the suppliers internal performance. The compensation awarded also shows differences, but is often over £100.

I often encourage those with issues to take them to the ombudsman, if only to try to keep the suppliers minds concentrated on dealing with complaints efficiently and effectively.
