We still have an old E7 meter but I switched to a 24hr tariff some time ago. Our heating and hot water is supplied by oil (though the boiler pump is electric of course). How will the switch-off affect us, if at all?
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
I just wanted to be sure as I'm still being pestered with emails and phonecalls to get a smart meter even though EON knows I'm no longer on the E7 tariff. Wondering if this will continue after the switch-off if my meter is then classified as faulty.
It looks to me like the RTS just operates as a 'ratechanger' for the meter and doesn't appear to have any wiring feeding any heating equipment. I may be wrong but that's how it looks to me.
When they switch off the RTS, it will stop the meter toggling between peak and off peak recording. If you were on E7 that would be a problem but you say you are on single rate so in that case you won't have any issues. The meter will just continue recording all your use on whichever register is active when they switch off. Nothing at all to worry about 👍
