OFGEM will announce the next price cap on Friday this week. Cornwall Associates are predicting a small rise in the figures, but perhaps a decrease in April.
if you can fix now below the current price cap that is likely to be a good move. Usually our spend on energy is highest in the winter months so securing lower prices now is a sound tactic.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
@meldrewreborn I must be going totally senile, (not surprisingly😂 after a weekend of grandkids), I had the announcement pencilled in for the 25th. Daft old me 👴. It'll be interesting to see, as Cornwall suggested a while back there might be a slight drop. The general consensus at the time was sceptical.
Totally agree if you can fix below current cap. 👍
Senility is not a function of having grandkids. To the best of my knowledge I don't have any, and I'm definitely losing the marbles 🤣🤣🤣
This whole 'price cap' nonsense is getting silly now. Show me one single person who conforms to this 'mystic average' they keep banging on about.
OFGEM and Cornwall...just tell us the change in unit price and change in unit rate. Most punters are able to work out from that information if bills will go up or down.
The first question we all ask....never mind the £ figure, what are our SCs and Unit Prices going to be?!

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@retrotecchie What marbles, the grandkids have taken all mine 😂.
May be 'Mystic Meg ' is this individual all the calculations are centred around to produce the 'Mystic Average '. Nothing like a bit of crystal ball gazing to get accurate theoretical figures 🙃🌞.
Yep the all important factor it all comes down to is "Ow Much!" .
while that would be good for many it can’t be done because of regional pricing and E7/E10. Rest assured either @Mailman or I will post a link to the appropriate OFGEM tables soon enough. Most though will just sigh relief if it just tweaks up a bit - we’ve got used to the more frequent changes now. And while we’re nowhere near 2021pricing, we are 3 years of inflation on, and perhaps there is a realisation that these price levels are going to remain for some time to come.
The mythical averages exist because the MSM needs a figure to fit into their headlines for the general public to absorb, so that they can rehash previous stories with the minimum of effort
These tweaks remind me of the old radio show “The Navy Lark” with the navigator’s steering instructions - left hand up a bit or more decisively, right hand down a bit, kept everything safe.
As we grow older our knowledge base gets ever larger, and so the search engine takes a bit longer to find the right bit of info. That’s what I tell myself, anyway. At least us folks now have something else to bind us together, we’ll not forget who took our winter fuel allowance away.
