Hi there,

I purchased and built a piggy meter (https://aquaticus.info/meter.html) which is a tool designed to read the optical port on a meter and provide that information to my home automation system. I intend to use it to read from the Liberty 100 meter. The port in question is described in the manual as an "Optical 1107 hardware-compatible port"

Having read the Liberty 100 manual (https://www.manualslib.com/manual/29...page=48#manual), it says that "This port can be enabled or disabled using a service UTRN". The manual doesn't seem to provide any UTRNs within it, so I assume they have to be issued by the energy supplier?

How can I verify that the port is enabled, and if necessary, how can I enable it?

The port is usually disabled by default on all smart meters. It can only be enabled by an engineer with a portable terminal and the appropriate meter-specific software. That said, using a terminal that supports FLAG protocol can sometimes read the main import register. Most meter manufacturers use their own challenge/respond encryption on the optical port, hence the need for meter-specific software.

All non-smart meters usually have the port enabled unless explicitly disabled for some reason.
