Smart meter doesn't reflect readings

Sorry, another "smart meter not accurately syncing" post!

My meter shows the following readings:

    • Gas: 8861
    • Elec: 23265

But looking at my last "Smart" readings in my EON Next account, I get:

    • Gas: 8858 (08/09/24)
    • Elec: 21358 (08/10/24)

So gas is only off by a bit... but electricity is over 1,900 Kwh out.

My bills have also been weird. Suddenly £400 higher once I submit a reading, followed by a £400 credit some months later when the smart meter posts an updated reading.

How do I get the two in sync?

    Thanks in advance!

are you getting your reading from the in home display or direct from the meter itself? Is it possible that you actual meter has two registers and you are reading the total of the two and eon are only using one? How long have you had the meter? Sorry for the many questions but it’s a strange one.

I'm getting it from the smart meter display. Here's a screenshot:

Must have had the meter... ohh, maybe 3 years or so now? Longer? Honestly don't know for sure.

This has been an ongoing issue for at least a year, maybe even the whole time.

I just keep submitting new readings, have it correct itself and suddenly charge more, than have it (later) drop down once the meter sends a new reading.

All the while... I'm overpaying each month just in case!

Any idea what I should do? Contact EON support, maybe?

    Thanks!

That looks like the In Home Display (IHD)
What does the actual meter say? They should be in sync, but it’s not unheard of the IHD display doing funky things…

treat the In home display as a guide - not a definitive source, should be correct but might not be. You need to get the actual meter checked. There may be two registers ( think day night) and the figure on the IHD might be the total of the two. It might also be that eon next are only pulling the reading from one of the registers, not both. If that’s correct then the question arises whether you are liable to pay for the consumption on the second register? Was the meter new when it was installed, thus starting from zero on both registers, or did it have a reading on the second register which has stayed the same ever since and Eon Next deliberately ignore?

you might want to consider all the implications of all this. If there is a second register does it change, over say a week?
