Hi. I'm on Next Flex, which I think might be a variable tarrif. It has no exit fees, estimated annual cost is £1220 as it stands today. The supposed cheapest tarrif for me is Next Fixed 12m v25 that shows an annual usage of £1275. I know prices go up on 1st October. Should I be changing my tarrif to Next Fixed 12m v25? Thanks.
Like you Isupect any difference will be marginal. I think I'll just opt for the Next Fixed 12m v25 and stick with that for a year. I'm hoping I can have it start the 1st of October and set up a DD with it. I don't have DD on Next Flex.
The increases in October are greater for gas than electricity. So partly the answer depends on your fuel mix.
The rates Eon Next will charge for Next flex, which is as you say a variable tariff, haven't been announced yet (I think) but they will likely be at or fractionally below the OFGEM maximum rates. Those are published here:
Make sure you pick up the right rates and then you can calculate for your self whether any fixes on offer will be of benefit to you. I suspect the difference will be marginal.
Variable rates are forecast to rise again in January 2025 , but thereafter it is only guesswork.
