    Hey Community 👋

Did you know that E.ON Next can arrange FREE gas safety checks for our most vulnerable customers?

If you're on the Priority Service Register (PSR) then you may be eligible for a free gas safety check. You can find out more about the PSR in our thread: Priority Services Register: What is it and how do I get added?

There's some criteria that you will need to meet which I'll outline in more detail:

    • E.ON Next must be your gas supplier.
    • You must own the property and be in receipt of a means-tested benefit:
Universal Credit / Pension Credit / Council Tax Support / Tax Credits (Child & Working Tax Credit) / Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance / Income-related Employment and Support Allowance / Income Support
    • You must not have had a gas safety check carried out on the property in the last 12 months.

You must also be in one of the following categories below:

    • Living alone and on the Priority Service Register (PSR)
    • Living with at least 1 child under 5 years old
    • Living with others who are of pensionable age, have a disability, are chronically sick or under the age of 18.

At the moment we are unable to cover the following areas:

    • London and its neighbouring areas - including the south.
    • Surrey
    • Essex
    • Devon and Cornwall regions
    • Wales

If your area isn't currently covered keep checking back as we will keep this thread updated with any new or relevant information - You can subscribe to this thread for any updates by clicking the little cog and selecting subscribe 😊

I think I might be eligible what should I do?

To check if you might be eligible you should get in touch with an energy specialist and they will go through everything with you and pop a request through. If you're eligible someone will be in contact to arrange an appointment for you.

What will happen during the appointment?

The appointment will be carried out by a gas safety engineer from a 3rd party contractor, they won't require any payment this is a free appointment!

The engineer will do checks on the safety of your gas appliances and fittings including the effectiveness of any flue, making sure everything is safe for you. This will include advice on the safe use of gas appliances and other gas fittings, dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning and the benefits of fitting a carbon monoxide alarm. A gas safety check should be done once a year!

presumably renters are excluded because a gas safety check is the responsibility of the landlord.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

Plus one of the qualifying benefits, Housing Benefit, really only applies to renters.

Gas safety checks in rented accommodation are indeed the responsibility of the landlord or their agent.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

This is a very good point @meldrewreborn & @retrotecchie 🤔 This shouldn't be in the list, I have removed it from the post and I'm going to ask for an updated criteria to make sure it's covered correctly 😊

Thanks for pointing this out to me, we would be lost without you both!
