Thank you, you have been extremely helpful, albeit I don't understand much of the terminology.
I will have to take this up with Eon in the hope that they will look at the case rather than just keep reeating - "Your meter shows this reading!" which is what I am getting so far.
The argument is that if the meter shows a reading then it has recorded energy use. My big concern it that it might not be taking into account the amount of solar generated. If it's not capable of net metering, i.e. subtracting export from import, then the meter is likely not doing the job properly.
Just out of curiosity, what is the other meter for? Is that a single phase meter?
I know of various installations (I've worked with several!) where one single phase supply is used in a factory for 'domestic' supply like lights and power in offices and a separate three phase supply is used for the 'big ticket stuff' like process heating or heavy duty machinery. I'm interested to know why you seem to have a two meter, or two supply setup.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Do you think an engineer visit (from EON) will be of any use in sorting this. They have asked for the £12,500, but I have asked for a meter assessment.
This will be £100, which will be worth it if I can show that the usage is not accurate?

Has anyone experience of this previously?
Many Thanks
I'd be inclined to ask for a meter upgrade to smart metering.
Firstly, the meters will be swapped to newer devices that will correctly handle the issue of export which will allow you to set up a SEG account for your export.
Secondly I'd check that the two meters are indeed both fed from the same supply cable and are independent of each other. It may be that the single phase meter is actually a sub-meter powered by one of the phases from the 3 phase meter and that it's just used to measure the usage to the holiday cottage. Do you have two separate MPAN numbers on your account (one for each meter) and pay two lots of standing charges?
