Eon Next have been sending me texts, emails and letters telling me that "Your smart meters are going to stop working soon so we need to exchange them."
I have Landis+ Gyr E470 meters with a Trilliant hub. They have not been Smart for the 3 or 4 years I've lived here - and I'm happy with that.
In what way will they "stop working"? Or is Eon Next being untruthful?
Hey @TempAcc welcome to the community 👋 did the text give you any indication why?
There are a couple of threads that spring to mind here as some need re-certification and others need exchanging due to Remote Teleswitch Service switch off. If it's neither of these in the links below then I would recommend getting in touch with an energy specialist.
If your current smart meters are dumb then there’s a fair chance the new ones will be too, If the new ones work as they should then that sounds like a bonus to me.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
It might be because the 2g/3g signal is being turned off and the replacements will work off 4g. So they might work - no guarantees.
if you want to stay as you are just ignore the requests to replace.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
@meldrewreborn Ah, that makes sense. They might be saying that my smart meters can't possibly work when the network stops using 2G/3G. What they don't mention in any of the letters / texts / emails is that my smart meters don't currently "work" - so I wasn't sure if they were trying to trick me into switching to (working) smart meters.
I've been ignoring them for over a year. I shall carry on!
