Good morning,
my current fixed tariff is due to end on 30th June 2024. Eon have sent new tariffs, if I pick one today and a better deal comes out before they switch me on 30th June do the exit fees on my newly selected tariff apply?
thanks
This happened to me last year. Eon let me cancel with no penalty as I within the 'cooling off' period. Just check that the 'cooling off' period overlaps the month end.
And look carefully at the terms and conditions. Eon Next have dropped exit fee if you switch to another of their tariffs -so there might not be an exit fee at all. Also not that the end of the ban on acquisition only tariffs is likely in the autumn and the market switching may open up a bit more.

@meldrewreborn
the tariff I’m looking at says £100 exit fee for dual fuel? Also, with the ban in acquisition only tariffs are you saying that will have an adverse effect on fixing a 12 month contract now?
Does it say just "if you exit the contract" or "if you exit Eon Next"?
With the BAT likely to end, suppliers will be able to offer keener tariffs for those who switch from other suppliers, so in theory better deals will become available.
Also how long has your selected tariff been on the market?. The new price cap was released last week and those are down. will this feed into better fix price tariffs? nobody knows, but I'm holding onto my discounted tariff guaranteed to be below the price cap for the moment, particularly as my gas consumption is always very low in the summer.
There are no guarantees and nobody has a monopoly on knowledge or accurate guesses.
@EDY what tariff were you looking at? As @meldrewreborn has pointed out you should be able to switch to another E.ON Next tariff without penalty as our newer tariffs have no internal exit fees. Exit fees only come into place when you switch suppliers before the term ends.
There are however some historical tariffs that DO still have exit fees, so I just wanted to check what you were looking at and I can check it for you!

@EDY thanks for confirming. The Next Secure Fixed 12m V10 has no internal exit fees so you could change tariff at a later date however it does still come with £50 exit fee per fuel if you were to change supplier before the tariff end date 😊
If you decide to switch please pop back and let us know how it goes 🙂
