@retrotecchie loves these sorts of cases. What necessitates a 3 phase supply for you as presumably you don’t have one at present?Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless. -

You rang?
@google
Three phase?!! Are you installing a high powered EV charger or going over to an ASHP for your heating? If so, you may well need a three phase supply if your existing single phase doesn't have anough capacity.
Otherwise, if you have a working SMETS2 smart meter, they can be remotely switched to two-rate in many cases. Those that need swapping physically rarely need swapping for three phase.
If you want to keep your existing meter, but want seven hours of off-peak electricity between midnight and 7am, just switch to an EV tariff. There's no practical and very little cost difference between E7 and an EV tariff. The only difference with the two is that E7 needs a dual rate meter (although it would work with a single rate and half-hourly readings) and an EV tariff works with a single rate meter with half-hourly readings (although it would work just as well on a two-rate meter!).
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons. -

thanks for your reply . The answer is no i have single phase 100A cut out fuse -

thanks for your advice. I dont even have an EV car .but I have to heat up my pool at night. E-on replaced my meter 4 years ago, and they have installed a smart meter called WNC ubc_tn6 . And I'm not really sure if they can programmer it to be used for 2 rates . Anyway I called e-on a few times today and spoke with a couple of them, and i was told i can't have E7 on a single phase and I need to call UK power network to get involved . -
@google
That's nonsense. Anyone can have Economy 7 on single phase. Economy 7 on three phase is rather rare as most three phase installations are industrial or commercial. The model you have given is the smart comms hub, not the meter itself.
Of course, if this pool heater is a new installation and is likely to exceed the capacity of the 100A disconnect, then that's an entirely different matter. That will means moving over to a three phase supply but is a completely separate matter from any tariff itself. That will need the intervention of the DNO but as the meter change is also required the whole shooting match will need to be coordinated by the supplier.Last edited by retrotecchie; 24-05-24 at 05:46.
