Hi, can anyone help me? i really don't understand my statements and i cant find any where to explain them clearly.
For example, i have "Electricity" 4 different amounts on the 9th of April, then "we charged you for electricity" 4 amounts on the 31st of march then "Electricity" 4 different amounts on the 30th of march and also a "we reversed a previous charge" on the 30th of March. I submitted a manual reading on the 30th of March.
The long and the short is they say we are £300 in debit... and now my new tariff that's been suggested is a lower DD than my current one??
Also, when we were on the cap last year they said we owed money too...how is that? our DD was set at £70 i think they only took £46 because of the cap and at the end we owed £300 again. I really don't understand...Thank you for any help you can give me.
Statements often get confusing due to estimated readings and tariff changes etc. It always helps to submit regular readings if you don’t have smart meters.
You could always go back in statements to a previous reading you have confidence in (not an estimate) that gave a credit/debit account balance that you agree with. Now subtract that reading from your actual reading on 30 March. This will give you the amount of electricity you have consumed since that statement. Now apply your tariff rate and daily standing charge to see how much that electricity should have cost you. Now, taking into account the balance on that previous statement, subtract all payments you have made in the period. You should be left with a balance that hopefully agrees with your latest statement.
Sounds long-winded but if you don’t submit monthly readings and check every statement then sometimes you have to put in the long yards to reconcile things.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
@LisaD
It would be a good idea to pop up a copy of your latest statement but without any personal information. No names addresses account number or meter numbers. Then I'm sure that some of the very learned members here will be able to help you.
Hello @LisaD, welcome to the community 👋 You may see reversed charges when your account has been un-billed and then re-billed again to either correct charges on your account or make sure they are correct. Have you spoken to one of our Energy Specialists? They should be able to go through your statement and detail what has changed. 😁
