🔍Interesting that Eon Next appears not to allow any form of VPN to connect to your online account (it does not with my VPN) - even if the IP is from within the same country!
Interesting though that another large supplier (the one with tentacles) appears to have no such restrictions as I discovered this morning looking at my in-laws energy account.
No such restrictions BTW connecting to this community forum in using a VPN.
Anyone care to shed a light on what the rationale is behind this decision given that at least one other energy supplier is happy for VPN usage? 🍺
It would make more sense if the forum didn't allow VPN access (to limit scammers) and the proper website did.

Good thinking about the forum. 👍 VPN access needs to be seriously considered. The alternative is to use DiD (Defence in Depth). Layered security, Multi Function Authentication, an increasing number of companies are using or at least considering.

Reason: Extra information
@Mailman I cannot get onto my account at all now I use Bitdefender plus VPN, all the banks, building societies, water companies. broadband, phone companies no issues at all just Eon, how utterly pathetic, can't see my account anymore. Sort it out!

My water company doesn't like VPNs and isn't madly keen on password managers either.

I use Bitdefender Free AV + Surfshark (if I feel I need to). The only way round it (logging in to Eon Next) is to disable surfshark and then re-enable.🤔
@Mailman it's just our security settings they are high as it ensures that our customer data is protected 😊
I've had 2 emails in the past week from other large companies in retail telling me that I need to change my password as there's been a data breach. It seems to be happening more and more 😏 I wish more places would protect our information like this because I'm going to need to buy a password book at this rate 😂
