We all need a little advice sometimes especially when it comes to energy efficiency. Our E.ON Next specialists have highlighted some of the small changes and adaptations we can make that could help to save us energy!

In this video we give you some tools that could help make our homes more energy efficient - we've covered everything from heating & hot water, appliances and reducing heat loss. With these simple tips and a few small changes, it can really help us get the best from our homes!

i’ve posted many times about the replacement of my freezer and the savings resulting.

i used a through plug meter to test its energy consumption which was high. So my tip would be to use a through plug meter to measure actual consumption of devices. But if people don’t want to spend the £15 these devices cost, or as a first step, they could measure their consumption overnight, when only the bare minimum of appliances should be operating, and then decide if that figure is low or high. As a reference point my own night time consumption is now 0.07kw per hour That comprises the upright freezer, under counter fridge, broadband router and about 10 appliances on standby or displaying clocks.

if your consumption is way above this level - my old freezer alone was using circa 0.20 kWh, a real energy hog - then you might want to investigate why?

That's such a great tip thank you, is a through plug available in shops to purchase? I could definitely do with one as I feel we leave loads of unnecessary devices on. 😕
