I wonder how Eon will react to my request to prove that the meter is not getting a new tarrif update every day. For me, I think it is on them to show that the IHD is faulty and they don't seem to be able to do that without showing me the tarrif on the meter and the date it was ingested. The only other option would be for them to provide another IHD and if that worked okay then I could send it back to them and admit defeat.
I don't really understand why EOn thinks the IHD is faulty - it should communicate with the meter every 10 seconds and pick up all the information from there.
If it's already doing that OK and showing the correct kWh usage the IHD isn't faulty, so the tariff it's picking up can only be the tariff stored on the meter
Good explanation of IHD communicating with the HAN/meter interface here
and there we have it. I have no way to make EON prove that they are not sending updates to the meter. I have to trust their assurance.
Well EON - I don't! But I have no further avenue.
quote: Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns regarding your IHD and the tariff updates.
I understand your frustration with the ongoing issue and appreciate your loyalty to Eon. While I regret to inform you that the meter replacement falls outside the one-year warranty period, we do have a partnership with a company where you can obtain a replacement IHD at a discounted price. If you're interested in pursuing this option, please let me know, and I'll provide you with further details.
Regarding your request to check if the meter is receiving tariff updates daily, I can assure you that the tariff updates are not sent to the IHD on a daily basis. They are only sent if the IHD does not have the current tariff information.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Afternoon @PaulS2024 . This is from HM Gov website.
Principle 2: Once the IHD is confirmed as being missing or broken and cannot be repaired, a supplier should offer a replacement IHD or provide a means by which a replacement can be purchased.10 Apr 2024 https://www.gov.uk/government/public...be%20purchased.
I'm not aware of any suppliers offering an new IHD if you change.
I think the simple answer is, if you already have smart meters and an IHD (working or not), no supplier is going to offer a free replacement IHD if you change to them.
