Hi, I was recently told I could be on a commercial meter , although I'm in a domestic property - I am on a domestic tariff but will the commercial meter increase my bills ( as I am paying and have been paying an awfull lot more than similar size properties/ household as mine )

Commercial meters or contracts will always cost significantly more than domestic tariffs. Even if the standing charges and unit rates were identical, commercial energy attracts VAT at 20% while domestic energy attracts VAT at 5%.

Remember what happened to energy prices two years ago? Domestic energy is protected by the Government price caps. Commercial energy isn't.

I'd stay exactly where you are, but do an energy self-audit to find out why you use that much more than a similar property.

@Tnewberry79 out of curiosity did is this for business purposes or is the property 100% residential? I just ask as if it’s a residential property only you shouldn’t have been given the commercial option. If that’s the case then it may mean your account set up isn’t quite right and might need to be looked at.
