Easter-observing Christians commonly refer to the week before Easter as Holy Week, which in Western Christianity begins on Palm Sunday - Easter and its related holidays are movable feasts, not falling on a fixed date.
There are many Easter traditions around the world - these include: sunrise services or late-night vigils, flowering the cross, the wearing of Easter bonnets and the decoration and communal breaking of Easter eggs, Easter parades, the Easter Bunny and egg hunting.
FUN FACTS 🐰
- The English term is derived from the Saxon spring festival Ēostre
- The Easter Bunny legend began in Germany
- The world’s largest Easter egg weighs in at 5000lbs
- The UK’s first chocolate egg was produced in Bristol in 1873
- The largest Easter parade is held in New York
Does anyone have any plans this weekend?
