Hi, so following on from a previous post about checking the radio signals in Scotland I’ve today had a smart meter fitted.
Unfortunately the guy said it was still not connecting, this is despite my next door neighbour having a working smart meter.
Anyway he said they no longer remove the smart meter and put the old one back in so I’ve got a smart (dumb) meter installed now.
My question is, is there anyway from looking at it to tell whether it’s connected up or not? He didn’t leave an in home display I’m guess because it wasn’t connecting up so I just wondered if I can check myself if there’s been a miracle?
I was really hoping to take advantage of the overnight EV charging but without a working smart meter I can’t.
@WizzyWigg thank you, so is there no way of knowing from the lights on the meter if it’s working or not?
The engineer just said it had no signal so wouldn’t work at all but are you saying it could still connect up within the next 6 weeks if it is actually going to work?

Any thing is possible but I'm not holding up much hope from what you say. If you look at your WAN light on your comms, if it is flashing every 5 seconds then it's connected. Anything else means you are not connected.

I’ve had a look at the meter and the WAN light is flashing green every 5 seconds though I’m sure it was doing that when the engineer showed me how to manually get a reading.
If I call eon would they be able to confirm it’s connected? If so I shall wait until tomorrow to give it time to show on their systems.

It's not Eon Next that it's got to connect to first it's the DCC, so afraid phoning them will not help. The Citizen Advice link will probably be the best option. Please don't get your hope up.
@WizzyWigg ah okay thank you anyway. I’ll see what happens, as I say I don’t understand how the house literally next door has one working but I can’t, it seems very strange.
