I had a smart meter fitted in December 2022, and have received monthly bills since. Today I have received an additional charge, dated the day before the smart meter installation, for £390.00. On checking, it appears that my final bill from my old meter didn’t include my gas charges. Perhaps I should have realised, but I didn’t. Surely as I have had no prior notification of this charge the “back billing” rules apply?

Level 102 Weeks AgoHi I have a similar issue in that they forgot to bill me for about 10 days in late 2022. I have told them back billing applies and EON NEXT support centre staff have said back billing rules do NOT apply as the account would be in credit had the late fees been paid.
I have checked OFGEM back billing rules and it does not mention anywhere about account credit status being a factor in back billing. Ditto for EON NEXT Ts & Cs.
There's some more threads i here about support centre staff ot knowing the rules and bending / ignoring them to bill customers.
