there has been a consultation on the Home Energy Model, which ended in late March and was the brainchild of the previous government. What the new government have in mind is beyond me.
Assuming the new government will adopt something along the line of the HEM doesn’t help as the methodology is very complicated and wasn’t even finalised at the time of the consultation.
I think the driving thought was to use carbon emissions rather than the cost of fuels in the assessment.So whereas a gas boiler scores better than strove radiators currently and a heat pump similarly, gas will be frowned upon and heat pumps favoured in the new scheme.
but if there are any links to the MEEC please post the as my searching failed miserably.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. what is not clear is whether these proposed regulations have actually been enacted. There’s been so many twists and turns about these measures affecting rental properties, the implementation date and what the standards that would be applied are to be.
I think the MEH consultation will likely inform whatever standard is decided upon. Having different standards for owner occupied homes compared to rented properties might be a complication too far. -

In 2018, Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) Regulations were introduced to improve energy efficiency in privately rented properties in England and Wales. The Regulations have applied to all tenancies since April 2020, even those where there has been no tenancy change.
Landlords must not continue to let a residential property with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of F or G. Landlords must ensure that all properties have a valid EPC and that rented properties meet at least an E rating unless a valid exemption has been registered.
Recommendations for energy efficiency improvements can be found on the EPC for the property.
A MEEC is a Minimum Energy Efficiency Certificate. The 'rental' equivalent of an EPC.

Level 9113-08-24Ed Miliband has confirmed in an answer in parliament that he will introduce new rules relating to minimum rental energy standards by 2030 of band C. Whether that’s the current band C, or more likely a revised band C isn’t mentioned. Getting a property to a minimum current requirement for renting out a property shouldn’t be that difficult. Note that installing night storage radiators on economy 7 doesn’t reduce carbon emissions one jot but would reduce costs. That’s what the current regime prioritises, whereas the likely new regime planned by the previous Government would concentrate on emissions to help reduce fossil fuel consumption. I think it’s highly likely that the new Government will proceed quite quickly on all this as much of the necessary work is complete, courtesy of the previous government.

Level 613-08-24Hi All, on my daily call to E-ON I gained further knowledge of my problem. E-ON fitted my dual tariff meter in 2018. On the 25th June 2024 E-ON acknowledged that my meter was Dual tariffs-I send photos. Today I am told the problem is with the National Grid Database - the property is registered as having a single tariff meter. Can anyone help with how I can put pressure on National Grid Database to sort out my problem. Does the Ombudsman cover the National Grid Database? Thank you for all your help. -

The Ombudsman can only act after 8 weeks of a unresolved formal complaint to the supplier
