Competition drives innovation which lowers prices. Active customers who switch suppliers ( of any product ) get the benefits first. Customer loyalty always delivers benefits to the supplier but rarely to the customer.

the price caps originally existed to protect customers who didn’t switch and were essentially being abused by suppliers. Now that markets are stabilising we can expect competition to return, albeit with fewer suppliers.
