while portrayed as being simple and easy, in home devices can cause heaps of angst to customers. We have experts who might be able to answer your questions if you can state the meter make and model, and the same for the communication hub (with the flashing lights). Also the timing of the flashes.
changing suppliers shouldn’t make things worse, but improvement is not a given. I’m not an expert on these things but know the questions others ask.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

EDF were happy to send me two, I returned one, but E.On are happy to give the name of a supplier to sell me one for £50 (for a £5 device). Yet no guarantee that it will work either.
I admit I have no understanding of them, logic says you enter the meter number set the rates, connect them and they give readings!!

If you give the details I asked you about earlier it would help a lot. It may be that the problem lies in the communications hub and no IHD will ever work. Help us to help you, please.
Quote "Just to be clear on this GIO Trio 2 IHD:
Is it totally blank with no usage or £ data on what you have used? If not blank, are you telling us that the £ costings are incorrect OR does it give you kWh usage of your utilities used per day/week etc?" UnQuote
Sorry I thought I was clear, it cannot connect to the meters and therefore shows no data whats ever except a mesaage "....connecting to meters....." for longer than reasonable.
I can't give any more informations than that
But I appreciate the help.
Re testing the connections to be SMART (haha) or not
That website says the Electricity meter is not SMART but the gas one is SMART.
Which would be great if they would chat with the IHD
I wouldn' bother but E.On like EDF for some reason are always days behind on their website info to indicate how we are tracking in usage/cost.
you have to understand that the IHD gets data from the meters via comms hub and no where else. If there is a fault in the comms hub you’ll have your answer.
Thanks mate, guess I will never know. E.On read them (daily I assume) as SMETS 1s and produce bills so presume working comms hub.
The process seems like a massive misguided waste of money, we did make £0.28 a couple weeks ago on a switch off your usage for an hour event!! Woohoo
Cheers for your interactions
