@Mailman Hiya hope you are well. I give manual meter readings around the 22-25th of each month for gas, we have smart meters but they only retrieve them for the electric. Below are our recent manual readings that I have sent to EON. The actual reading now is 35186, I did a reading Sunday morning and again just now Monday morning and we used 3 units.
Take pictures of the actual meter reads if you are able to and perhaps post them here as well. Eon Next will need these when you make contact with them. The numbers look out of whack for sure.
@Mailman Hi thanks, here are the photos I took one from yesterday morning and one from this morning as I wanted to compare nothing had gone drastically up again.
@Theldron The glitch on 3 feb alone added approximately 15,000 M3 to consumption so it’s probably happened more than once. Further examination might confirm. You gave evidence of actual meter readings in you initial post I seem to recall.
if Hugo is displaying daily data something is getting through but reading for billing are specifically requested by the supplier (request + reply) and that may not be working if you are having to submit manual readings. This all points to meter malfunction.

Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
This advance in cu m looks to be very similar to my daily meter advance = circa 30kWh of gas in one day (mine for yesterday was 26.5 kWh). I used circa 6400kWh for the whole of the last year.
Meter malfunction needs to be reported asap. Keep us updated in the months ahead on how Eon Next handle this situation and how quickly they do so. 🍺

I calculate it to have added about 30,000. I used a recent bill and figured it costs me about 80p/unit for gas. Approx £24,000 divided by 80p gets me to 30,000 which is about the jump in consumption. Am I wrong?
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
@Mailman cheers mate will do. I have spoken to Eon and I was told I need to take a video of me pressing the button to get a meter reading and email them. Not sure what that's going to prove I have been doing it for 3 years no issues. At least they know there's an issue and I'll sort video when I get home. I'll let you know what happens next.

my mental maths a bit shaky this morning , but hopefully my other analysis is correct.

Proves it’s a current reading rather than an old one. Probably a standard response. It’s now how they deal with the issue. How do you pay? They shouldn’t attempt a huge Direct Debit on the back of this now they know there’s a problem.
but It’s worrying that such a fault is possible at all, if it were a smaller amount the customer would not be able to spot it or dispute it. I wonder if the meters use just one sensor to measure the gas flow. In the Boeing Max crashes using just one sensor caused 2 crashes and hundreds of lives, and that is inherently a poor design.
