One of the problems with growing old is resetting our comparators when it comes to costs and prices. What we regard as a fair price for something is quite often many years out of date. We accept as a right out pension increases (10% last year 8% from this April) but become Nelsonian on prices. It was ever thus and its something that I have to force myself to accept and adjust.
But have you had to shell out for the tooth fairy recently?
Indeed 😁
But on a much more positive note I am now within 2 months of receiving my state pension so perhaps my odd rants will be on the decline 😎

Oh happy days.....🤣
You? RANT?? I really don't get that impression.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
The uptick in the standing charges announced today for April's price cap by Ofgem are month watering with some regions really dinged more than others ......
For me, the standing charge is truly eye-watering. That works out rather more than the £16 a year for bad debt they were mooting. Actually another £40 a year by my calculations, and that's for single fuel. We're being ripped off by SC's....no two ways about it!
Turns out my SC would be half a penny cheaper if I was on E7 rather than single rate, too. How in God's name does that make any sense at all?

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

So you'll be able to look forward to the handy £500 winter fuel allowance payment the govt gives you next November 🤓 (and the free bus-pass comes in handy too 👍)
when I can get to my pc I’ll try to post the maximum prices by region. The mobile just doesn’t cut it. I’ll see if I can figure out what has driven the variance in differential between regions, whether it’s bad debt, network costs or something else.
I've done a quick calculation of the Northern standing charge increases and it's going to be over £50 a year for the electricity and about £7 for the gas, far more than the £16 they were bandying about. I don't agree with regional variations, because it seems to be always the same regions who take the biggest hits.

That's if the Government don't reduce or abolish the Winter Fuel Payment and end free-bus passes. They'll probably not risk it in the general election year.😃
