Has there been any official comment on us not being able to take part in the DFS scheme this week due to the Eon.next bid being rejected?
I'm not annoyed at eon I think you should have bid higher but it seems the rug was pulled from under your feet by the low ball bid from others including Octopus.
What happens next I wonder? Some one bids less than £1000/KWh? It's not worth taking part then for the average household even if the bid is successful
IF DSO ever needs the capacity for a real session a big proportion of those interested are already disenfranchised.
@Lorian, I doubt that anyone from Eon Next will comment meaningfully other than to point to the NGESO documentation I've referenced below 🍻
According to NGESO, "the Guaranteed Acceptance Price (GAP) for the first 6 tests will remain at £3,000/MWh. The remaining tests from 1st January 2024 onwards will either continue to be underpinned by the GAP or become competitive, subject to the total volumes participating in the service."
It seems clear to me that DFS is now seen as a valid and predictable way to balance the supply system in these trial events, and they are now applying price sensitivity to the matter. However its a bit of a blunt tool if the price sensitivity applies only to retail electricity suppliers and their bids and not to individual customers. Perhaps that will come later.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
@meldrewreborn
I see we missed another one for the 29/2. Although with the bid that failed and the bids they accepted, it wouldn't really be worth the effort now.
And for 1/3 as well, although £1/kWh is scapping the barrel. Trouble with these low values, it will mean a portion of people won't bother next year, probably when it is need the most. If I am reading it right, the highest accepted was 75p.

Another test event notification for today March 2nd. Possibly from 1800-1830 only. Eon Next's bid is unlikely to be accepted unless they pitch their offer very low. DFS has turned into a bit of a damp squib for many since the start of the year.
I doubt if Utrack (my participant) will be onboard for this test and even if they are, I'll not be doing anything different.
I think it’s crystal clear that ESO are gathering data on what level of incentive produces the best outcome for them. And they can probably use just a subset of participants to gather that data. Shortening the measurement period tests even more. While I recognise that customer enthusiasm will decline as a result, that is exactly what they want to understand.
Although Eon Next's bids were rejected (as were most of the other big players) my participant (Utrack) was not. Looking at the bids that were accepted they were largely in the 50-100p/kWh saving. I got 36.8% savings and I calculate I'll get between 4-8p for my efforts because of a low baseline figure. 🤣
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
