The Standard Residential Terms & Conditions has this clause (attached) 11.1.3. which I think means we can switch without penalty within 42 days of the contract end date (I guess we all have one of those), otherwise exit fees apply. Section 11.3. details what happens if you let the contract run to the end.
I may be wrong but that's how I read it. I would be very surprised/disappointed if they expected a contract to run to the end.
By the way Next Fixed 12M v7 has just appeared with a few pence lower rates (in my case) than v6.
@doverboy I am wondering the same, but fairly sure that if I change from my current tariff, Next Loyalty Fixed v4 to the one suggested on my latest statement, Next Fixed 12m v6, there is a penalty of £75 for the gas and £75 for the electric. However, I think that it used to be the case that if you changed tariff within so many days of the expiry date there was no penalty. Can anyone confirm please and if so how many days.
I am on Next Loyalty Fixed v4 and my T&Cs say that exit fees will apply if I change supplier before my tariff end date. Again, it's important to check your own T&Cs or to contact customer service to be sure.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.

Good luck 💙
Thanks, I have just received my latest statement and it says that if I change to Next Secure Fixed 12mv4 I could save £102.15 a year for electric and £84.22 a year for gas. Not sure now what to do.
How do the rates compare to the Next Fixed 12M v7 for you @Nessie? and when does your current tariff end?
I think suppliers are duty bound to inform customers when there's a cheaper tariff available, but of course it's not always suitable because of exit fees and the changes expected in the coming months.

My advice is to do your own sums based on your actual annual consumption rather than Eon Next's estimated annual consumption. They may or may not be close to each other.

My advice is to look at the predictions of future prices now being made. Logically the best time to go for a price fix is when prices are about to go up, BUT at the moment the forecast is for quite dramatic reductions in prices from April (16% down) and July (maybe another 8% down) in the standard variable tariffs because of the OFGEM price cap. You could fix now and then watch as variable rates drop lower than your fix in a very short time period.
check this out, and look carefully at the Eon Next "next Pledge tariff" which is 3% below the normal variable rate.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Great question! I was wondering also! @DebF_EONNext can you shed some light please? ✨🤟
@Beki it's lovely to see you here, we have missed seeing you pop up 🤗
The Next Loyalty v4 has exit fees if you change supplier this would be £75 per fuel.
The Next Fixed v5 has exit fees if you change tariff or supplier. Again this is £75 per fuel.

Using communities all the time now for problem solving! 👌 Miss working with you though!
If I switched from my current fixed tariff with E.ON Next to another fixed tariff within E.ON Next that's quoted on my bill, would I get charged the £75 exit fee? Because switching would not be worth it if so...

That would depend on your current @Beki are you on the Next Loyalty v4? If this is your tariff then there would be no exit fees for switching tariff. If for any reason a charge does show on your statement let us know and this would be waived 😊
